This is not textbook physics. It is a personal theory, a metaphor that borrows language from physics and chemistry to explain why some people feel magnetic and others feel deeply repulsive. Do not quote this in a thermodynamics exam; read it as a way of thinking about intuition, vibes, and movement in life.
When you meet a person, you always find something attractive about them, right? Some vibe, some “shit” that clicks. You feel like, “Yeah, I vibe with this person, we bonded, the energy was good, we chatted for a while.” The concept of bonding is usually talked about emotionally, but here the game is to look at it as if it were rooted in elemental physics or chemistry.
We all know Coulomb’s law: the electromagnetic force between charged particles like electrons and protons leads to atoms being formed. Different atoms have different sets of protons and electrons, and an element is not something sacred or fixed. You can change an element by changing its configuration of protons and electrons. Take some protons out of one element, take some electrons out of another, change the configuration, and boom, you have a different element. Change sodium to potassium, for example. The physical reality around an atom changes how that element behaves.
So sodium inside our body does not behave like sodium outside our body, maybe lying in air or vacuum. The environment changes the physical attributes of an element. If this is true, then any configuration of electrons and protons can represent any element in the periodic table.
Now, we all know we are made up of carbon, majorly. But at the most fundamental level, we are atoms: electrons and protons arranged in some specific manner, held together through electromagnetic forces. Protons and electrons revolving, Pauli exclusion principle, spin up, spin down, positive charge, negative charge. It is not just protons and electrons, it is the entire charged system holding molecules together. Molecules form cells, cells form tissue, proteins, organs, everything.
So here is the metaphor: our bodies, elementally, are made of charges, protons, electrons, and their arrangements. We all carry an inherent charge in ourselves. That charge is dynamic, not static, because we are not stationary. We are not frozen. We are moving, living systems, so we constantly carry some charge. Maybe a perfectly “neutral” person in this metaphor does not carry any net charge, but most living beings are essentially large sets of charged molecules interacting with the current reality.
That is what a human being becomes in this story: a set of charges in a specific arrangement inside an atmosphere.
Most human beings are elementally similar but structurally different. Every living being around us is elementally similar, most are roughly the same few elements, but the arrangements of those carbons, protons, neutrons, electrons are different. That arrangement is what makes you you. That is the unique pattern for every species on Earth, and even for every individual. Seven billion humans, billions of animals, other species, you get this absurdly large number of distinct arrangements of atoms in space, not in vacuum, but inside this dense, interacting reality.
Whenever we are moving, talking, making love, getting angry, hitting someone, whatever we are doing, we are exchanging energies. Even when you move through air, your body interacts with air molecules. When you touch a plant or a human being, you interact and exchange energy at some level, maybe subatomic in this metaphor. Every interaction changes your configuration a little bit.
Now bring entropy into the picture. The second law of thermodynamics says the entropy of the universe is always increasing. In this personal theory, that becomes: every living thing is playing this ongoing game of energy exchange and entropy, constantly trying to move in the direction that “fits” its own configuration.
So, imagine you are talking to someone. You do not like their energy. You feel repulsed. It could be your ex, your parents, someone who just feels “off.” You cannot always put your finger on it, but something in you does not want to be there.
In this metaphor, that “something” is subatomic. At a fundamental level, your atoms do not want that kind of energy exchange. That interaction might hinder your process of increasing entropy in the “right” direction for you. Your system, at some deep level, does not like it.
That is your answer inside this frame. That thing, that person, that situation is not meant for your body, your system, your brain. It is not aligned with your direction of entropy increase. Instead of helping your process, it interferes with it. So when it is “repulsive,” the energy exchange turns negative. You are slowly losing structure; your basic pattern is going through a kind of metaphorical decay.
Think of any element going through decay.
Take a very crude example: you talk to someone you really do not want to talk to. You keep talking for minutes, maybe hours. After that conversation, you feel like shit. Something is off. You used your voice, energy. You got their energy. An exchange happened. But that exchange did not increase your entropy in the right way. It was not constructive. At the atomic level, in this story, it is like atoms colliding and not forming a more stable, bigger structure, but instead breaking into smaller fragments. One atom becomes two smaller atoms. Your atom splits, their atom splits. The overall structure degrades.
Instead of increasing the overall entropy of the universe in a “productive” way, that interaction just breaks things down in a direction that does not serve your system.
Back to carbon. Let us say you make love to someone but feel repulsed or misaligned. That shared carbon, metaphorically, is broken down. One or two electrons are removed, and the structure shifts downward, from a large, complex carbon based structure to something like helium or hydrogen. The system simplifies. Hydrogen is the most basic, light element. So that part of you becomes “hydrogen” and disperses into the atmosphere. Those molecules do not continue as part of your complex carbon based structure; they downgrade into something simpler and drift away.
This, in this personal theory, is how the “law of attraction” actually works.
So how do you determine what attraction is and what your intuition is saying?
Whenever you feel attracted to something or someone, and it feels genuinely positive, do it. Move towards it. You are meant to do it. If you resist that positive pull, you are basically splitting your own structure. You are using negative energy to break your molecules instead of building them. You are going against your own entropy trajectory.
In college, a gentleman once told me: the entropy of the universe does not need to increase at every single moment in some naive way. It needs to be maximized. At any instant, it should be at a global maximum. Translated into math, the first derivative of entropy with respect to time should be positive, the second derivative negative, and the third derivative positive. In simple words: you are always pushing towards a peak, holding it, and then pushing to the next one.
So as living beings, within this metaphor, our goal is to keep increasing entropy and maximize it at each moment to the extent possible.
Whenever you feel shitty, stuck, or idle, you are blocking that process. You are not exchanging energy. You are not moving. That is why so many people say: just move. Do something. Take action. When you move, you exchange energy. When you move in a direction that feels positive, you move towards maximizing your entropy.
In that state, nothing feels truly sad, at least not in a stuck way. You are always in motion. No deep depression, no endless intrusive loops. Anxiety, then, becomes your body’s mechanism to push you up and out. If you still do not move, do not act, then your system starts concluding: “You do not need this energy. You are not using it.” And if that continues, your body might slowly shut down its drive. That is when people get thoughts of ending it all, because the system decides it is not needed in this configuration anymore.
So you need to move, bro. Always.
And that, for me, is what attraction really is, and why you want to move towards certain people, work, places, and experiences, and away from others.
